MY STORY
Born in Guildford in 1971, I studied Art at what was then known as the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham Surrey, specialising in typography.
After art college, I worked for the retailer Monsoon as a part of their visual team, implementing window schemes and helping to style the brand. I then had children and this is when my career as an artist started to evolve. I have been painting now for many a year and I am grateful every day to be able to do what I love for a living.
I now paint from my studio, The Hen House in Upper Farringdon. Working mainly in acrylics, I apply layers with a brush or a credit card. A lot of my pieces are designed initially on an iPad focusing on the palette and the composition. I then translate them on to canvas by hand using what ever technique is currently in favour.
My work is inspired by the beautiful local countryside where I walk daily with my dog, but it can also come from just driving along in the car or closing my eyes and letting my imagination run wild. My love of colours, shapes and the use of space on the canvas is what excites me the most about painting. Ultimately, my goal is to make my art come alive, using colours that bring my energy on to the canvas.
I also enjoy the process of commissions and working with the client, so please, get in touch if you have a special piece in mind.
My studio is always open by appointment
